# WXP Opening Times shortcodes

WXP Opening Times has one shortcode. It shows the opening times of a schedule and whether you are open right now. You can also use the **Opening times** block in the block editor or the widget in Elementor; they offer the same settings.

## [wxp_opening_times]

The simplest form shows the first schedule with the default template:

```
[wxp_opening_times]
```

More examples:

```
[wxp_opening_times schedule="kitchen" template="compact"]
[wxp_opening_times week_nav="yes" weeks_ahead="8" show_dates="yes"]
[wxp_opening_times template="grouped" show_title="yes" heading_level="2"]
[wxp_opening_times schema="yes"]
```

### Parameters

| Parameter | Values | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `schedule` | the id of a schedule, as shown in the admin | the first schedule | Which schedule to show. An unknown id gives a message that only editors can see. |
| `template` | `default`, `grouped`, `compact`, or the name of a template in your theme | `default` | The layout of the opening times. `grouped` puts days with the same times on one line. |
| `show_status` | `yes` or `no` | `yes` | The Open or Closed badge with a short sentence, for example "Open until 10:00 pm". |
| `show_title` | `yes` or `no` | `no` | Show the schedule name as a heading. |
| `heading_level` | `2` to `6` | `3` | The heading level of that title. |
| `show_dates` | `yes` or `no` | `no` | Show the date next to each weekday. |
| `week_nav` | `yes` or `no` | `no` | Buttons to browse to the previous and next week. |
| `weeks_ahead` | `0` to `26` | `4` | How many weeks ahead visitors can browse with the week buttons. |
| `schema` | `yes` or `no` | `no` | Also print the opening times as structured data (schema.org JSON-LD) for search engines. Printed once per schedule on a page. |
| `text_closed` | text | the text of the schedule | The word for "Closed" in this block only. |
| `text_open` | text | the text of the schedule | The word for "Open" in this block only. |
| `text_separator` | text | the text of the schedule | The separator between two opening periods in one day. |
| `text_open_until` | text, use `{time}` for the time | the text of the schedule | The sentence while you are open, for example `Open until {time}`. |
| `text_closed_opens` | text, use `{time}` for the time | the text of the schedule | The sentence while you are closed, for example `Closed, opens {time}`. |

### Good to know

- **Yes and no:** wherever a parameter takes `yes` or `no`, you may also write `true`, `1` or `on` for yes. Anything else counts as no.
- **Texts:** the `text_*` parameters win over the words you set for the schedule in the admin. Leave them out to use the words of the schedule.
- **Time zone:** the times follow the time zone, week start and time format in **Settings → General**.
- **Page cache:** the open/closed status is refreshed in the browser when the page was cached for more than five minutes, and at the moment the status changes.
- **Own layout:** a template in your theme is used when you give its name to `template`. Copy a file from the plugin's templates folder to start from.
- **Showing the code in a page:** WordPress runs shortcodes everywhere in the content, also inside code blocks. To show a shortcode as text, write it with double brackets, like in this guide.
